Filming: Running under the hot sun

Image
Today was filming day for my group. We went outside and walked straight to the track to begin filming. We dropped our stuff in a place nearby and started wondering what would be best to film first. Once we chose the part of the track we wanted to film, Alex and I got into positions for the first scene. I am one of the runners for our commercial, by the way.     In the first  scene we shot, Alex and I began doing stretches which were a little awkward to do at first, to be honest. Alex and I were unsure what stretches to do and had to converse for a minute or two to decide on them. This scene was shot and took up only a short time of our shooting, at around five minutes.      In the second scene, we shot, Alex and I are lined up symmetrically, get into starting positions, and then look at each other. This scene went well and only took two takes.      In the third scene we shot, Alex and I had to look at each other as we got into starting positions. This also was a simple scene and

Storyboard

Slide 1: A news broadcast starts and zooms into the track field. The racers, Jorge and Alex, are going to beat the 100-meter sprint world record. Both racers begin to stretch and prepare themselves for the race. Jorge and Alex give each other competitive gestures, both are mentally and physically prepared for this history-changing event. Slide 2: Both racers ready themselves, ready to pace through the wind. Alex, looking as smug as ever, knows he may have a chance of not only beating Jorge in the race but also beat the world record. Jorge looks determined, he seems like nothing is going to stop him from being beat. The countdown slowly starts at 5. Slide 3: The two contestants are shown giving each other a stare. It is supposed to give the audience a sense of tension and anticipation for the race. After that, the contestants both get in their positions to take off and run. The scene will end with the countdown getting to 0, making them start.   Slide 4: The scene begins with them havin

Research

Research:  We decided to do a commercial for NIKE, specifically, we decided on the Air zoom Pegasus 38 shoes(Mainly because Jorge has a pair). Most NIKE ads show people participating in some form of physical activity like running or playing soccer, really anything they would wear shoes for.  In all the ads we watched the actors wore sporty clothing to further emphasize the activity that this is equipment meant for sport.  The actors often appear sweaty and out of breath. Oftentimes their skin is glistening, further emphasizing their participation in the activities.  Oftentimes there are fast-paced upbeat songs used to convey excitement and energy. It is meant to motivate.  The props usually vary between the ads as the actions taking place often vary greatly. Sometimes there might be a  NIKE brand ball or NIKE Clothing, the list goes on and on. Conventions and Codes: Through the ads, the one major thing that remains consistent is the inclusion of the famous NIKE phrase: “Just do it.

My group: Partners in Crime

Image
This is my first group project of the year and I am excited for the future of this group. My group is comprised of Alex Rapanos, Rashawn Granderson, and Hadar Kotzer.     Usually, I am working in an individual setting however I am happy this time to be working in a group because groups can create a setting where creativity will thrive and ideas will bounce of each groupmate. This type of work environment can lead to a better result with the help of my partners.       From my experience in the past of working with groups, there are often many conflicting problems. Which led to decreased performance. However, this group is made up of hard-working students. I know this because I am familiar with their working habits and have seen what drives them to be productive. These are only just a few of the reasons I chose these partners for this project.     The partner in the group I am the most familiar with is Alex Rapanos. We have known each other for a long time. We first met through a friend

Introduction

Image
Hello blog readers, my name is Jorge Lopez, and I am in 10th grade at Fort Lauderdale High School. I was transferred into this class after being in TV production and I am pleased with this choice. The reason I chose to move to this class was I heard it was interesting. Another reason I chose this class is because I would love to know what is happening behind the camera of my favorite movies, shows, and influencers that I watch.  I find media to be a commentary on modern-day life and societal movements and norms.     The thing I do the most when I need to cool down is play  video games. Video games help me deal with stress and blow off steam after working on some assignments. I also use them to connect with friends I might not often see due to our differences in classes and limited contact because of Covid-19. Some of my personal favorite games are Valorant, Call of Duty Warzone, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. These games are all competitive and test my abilities against others which
