Today I had to answer a Creative Critical Reflection, also known as a CCR. After answering all the questions I realized how much I learned and gained from creating this commercial.
Research: We decided to do a commercial for NIKE, specifically, we decided on the Air zoom Pegasus 38 shoes(Mainly because Jorge has a pair). Most NIKE ads show people participating in some form of physical activity like running or playing soccer, really anything they would wear shoes for. In all the ads we watched the actors wore sporty clothing to further emphasize the activity that this is equipment meant for sport. The actors often appear sweaty and out of breath. Oftentimes their skin is glistening, further emphasizing their participation in the activities. Oftentimes there are fast-paced upbeat songs used to convey excitement and energy. It is meant to motivate. The props usually vary between the ads as the actions taking place often vary greatly. Sometimes there might be a NIKE brand ball or NIKE Clothing, the list goes on and on. Conventions and Codes: Through the ads, the one major thing that remains consistent is the inclusion of th...
Common CAMS Establishing shot’s mainly used during scenes showing off new areas to establish where the scene will take place. For example, The opening Shot shows “Columbus, Ohio”. Extreme close-ups are used often to shoe emphasis on a reaction or facial expression a character had to a certain event. Wide shots were used to showcase large battles and events to show their importance to the audience. Common CLAMPS Costumes were very unique. In the real world, they are tattered, and well-worn clothing. They showed the reality of the world the movie took place in. In the OASIS there are extremely unique costumes and designs that varied greatly. Lighting was oftentimes dark to invoke mysterious feelings in the audience as the world is very unknown. Props were quite unique in this movie. One of the most noteworthy was the headset piece worn by all the characters in the film to put them into the virtual reality world. Settings were also extremely unique as oftenti...
After watching the video and completing my own research, I was able to construct a step-by-step process for creating a short film. First, came up with a compelling and original idea for my short film. This can be inspired by personal experiences, current events, or just my imagination. Next, I will write a treatment or outline for my film. This should include the main plot points and character arcs, as well as any significant scenes or dialogue. Once I have a solid treatment, I will start writing the script. Make sure to keep the length of my film in mind, as my short film can be a maximum of 5 minutes. As I write, I focus on creating strong and relatable characters. A well-developed protagonist can help to engage my audience and make them care about the story. Keep the dialogue natural and realistic, and try to avoid heavy exposition. Show, don't tell, and use visual storytelling to convey information and emotion. Pay attention to the structure of the film. A three-act stru...
