Introduction Fully Prepared!

    Hello blog readers, my name is Jorge Lopez, and I am in 10th grade at Fort Lauderdale High School. I was transferred into this class after being in TV production and I am pleased with this choice. The reason I chose to move to this class was I heard it was interesting. Another reason I chose this class is because I would love to know what is happening behind the camera of my favorite movies, shows, and influencers that I watch.  I find media to be a commentary on modern-day life and societal movements and norms.


    The thing I do the most when I need to cool down plays video games. Video games help me deal with stress and blow off steam after working on some assignments. I also use them to connect with friends I might not often see due to our differences in classes and limited contact because of Covid-19. Some of my personal favorite games are Valorant, Call of Duty Warzone, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. These games are all competitive and test my abilities against others which is why I love them so much.

    I also love to play sports like basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. My dad and I will often go to football and baseball games together. One of my favorite parts about going to watch a game is the atmosphere of the stadium and the food. Out of basketball and football, I don't think I would be able to choose my favorite as I enjoy watching and playing them both so much.

    Whenever I have nothing to do, I will often binge-watch movies or TV shows sometimes. My top three and some I would definitely suggest watching are Forest Gump, Hacksaw Ridge, and Good Burger. Some of my show's favorites include but are not limited to Cobra Kai, Overlord, Toradora, and Cowboy Bebop.

    I also like reading books if one catches my eye or a friend recommends one. My favorite book series was the Percy Jackson books about Greek Mythology. My mother will also try to get me into some books as she is an English teacher.

    I also am a bit of a food connoisseur as my mother is a cook and loves to make different and exciting meals to try. My favorite food is a medium-rare steak with rice.

    I enjoy going to and doing recreational activities. One of my favorite things is to go to Sky Zone (a trampoline park) and play dodgeball.  I love South Florida, there are endless things to do, and tons of gorgeous "Chamber of Commerce" days to go outside and enjoy...

Pitching Some Ideas!

Pitch #1: “A film about two ordinary high school girls that live a secret double life as agent spies for the United States of America.”      We plan to show two girls first getting ready for high school. We would film these scenes in a group member’s house. We would also have to film scenes of the girls in their spy outfits and performing stunts. This would be hard to do as we would have to use actors who can do stunts. We would also need to use a green screen to show the actresses leaping from building to building.  This may be difficult to set up and require purchasing a green screen.  Pitch #2: “A man tries to provide for his family by stealing from a convenience store, but he ends up getting caught in the act by law enforcement.”      We plan to have one person walk into the store. Production: Fixing it up!

    Today my partners and I wanted to make changes to the editing based off of our film review. So we joined a discord call right after school and started saying what each of the people we reviewed said.     Christians' parents said that the scenes could have looked more professional and less like we were messing around filming. Since we are only editing today I can't fix that so I left it till later. His parents also said that we should make the film brighter as details like the costume and landscape were hard to see. So I quickly fixed it by making it brighter so everything could be seen well.     Alexs' sister told him that the camera work could have looked smoother and that there was some shakiness seen when she watched it. Editing Blog: Continuing the pro

     As I opened up Davinci Resolve, I felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension wash over me. I knew that we had a lot of work to do on our short film and that the editing process could be a challenging and time-consuming one. But as I located our project file and began sorting through the footage, I became increasingly immersed in the story we were trying to tell.      However, as I worked my way through the different shots and scenes, I quickly realized that some of them needed to be stronger. In particular, I noticed that some of the shots needed proper lighting, which made it challenging to capture the intended mood and atmosphere. This realization made me appreciate the importance of lighting in filmmaking, as it can truly make or break a scene.      Because of this, I had to spend a lot of extra time editing those particular shots to try and enhance the lighting and create a more compelling visual experience for the audience.
