Filming Blog: Beginning Filming
Today I am starting the filming process. The day started with me confirming everyone could make it. I texted a group chat I had previously made to connect with everyone, saying "Can everyone make it today? Remember to get there at 8 am". To which everyone replied with a similar response to "yes."
I proceeded to get ready and made sure to be early as I was one of the main actors and needed to assist in setting up. First, I set up the starting scene which included a table where Django and Marty sit in a dark room. Unfortunately, we ended up having to film this later because there was sunlight beaming into the room not giving us the lighting we wanted. We decided to film it later that night so the lighting would better fit our expectations.
So we carried on chronologically filming our scenes to make it simple for us to keep track of where we were in the filming process. Filming the house scouting scenes was fun, especially when I (Django) had to pretend to be a door salesman so I could find a way in the house.
The next scene we filmed was the driving scene and the going up to the door scene. This was easy to film as Christian and I walked up to the house and found the key. We then filmed the inside scenes which consisted of us searching drawers and things alike. Then walking upstairs and searching the bedroom. We finished filming these scenes, then decided to grab some food and then film the rest of the scenes once the sunset.
After the sunset, we began filming the indoor planning scenes between Marty (Christian) and Django (Me). First was the talking between Django and Marty which was hard for me to do as it is supposed to be a heartfelt scene. This scene took many takes but came out pretty good in the end. Then we filmed all the scenes in which Django and Marty discuss the steps to infiltrating and stealing from the house.
Once we had done all of these scenes, the group figured it was too late to continue, and we already had enough footage from the day. Overall, this filming day was exciting and challenging work. I had to continuously act the entire day, which I have some experience with, but not enough to prepare me for this day. Though it was challenging, I could not wait to film.
